Business Card Printing

I have just received a box of business cards that I ordered from VistaPrint.ca

I did a lot of research on this, and eventually went with this Canadian Company.  They are by far the cheapest, but the quality is quite reasonable.  They have lots of promotions, and turn around time is not bad.  I ordered 2000 business cards, and the total bill came to $35, which included shipping and handling.  Because of a promotion at the time, the business cards I got were the Premium Business Cards, with a Glossy Finish.

Not bad for $35!!!!

I was going to post about them, but first decided to check out if there were any referral deals.  And there is.  By ordering business cards from this link you get 25% off your first order.

2007 Lexus LS 460 Auto Park

I found this video quite amusing. Some guys from Automobile Magazine test the auto park feature of the new LS 460. Doesn’t seem to work quite that well…although, I believe it works a bit better for parallel parking.

Either way, I’d park my own car.

Watch the video here I’m having trouble putting video’s into the blog post. It seems that in this theme, even video plugins don’t work

Edit:  I had to remove the YouTube Embedded Video completely because it made my whole page display all wonky.

WordPress Theme help

I was using an older computer the other day, with IE 6 and realized that my site wasn’t being displayed correctly.  I am currently using a three column WordPress Theme.  It has two navigation themes on the right hand side, with the main text body on the left side.

When I was on the older computer, it was displayed as only two columns, with both of the right columns appearing on top of each other.  The middle column starting just below the right column.

It would be of great help to me if you could post a comment to tell me if the site is displaying correctly or not, so that I can figure out if there is something I need to change or not.

Many Thanks!!

Nintendo Wii Up For Grabs

The root of all evil, John Chow has done it again.  He is now running a contest and is giving away a Nintendo Wii. This contest is somewhat different from the last one, which was the top commentator of the month. This one, all you have to do is  write a post about him with linking to him with the the anchor text “the root of all evil.”  I think with this contest, he will successfully be the top search result for the word “evil.”  This contest is sponsored by 1234Pens.com. They make promotional pens.  These promotional pens were the prize of the last contest, the Top Commentators of February.

The Miscellaneous Ramblings of a Dot Com Mogul. What is captivating about miscellaneous ramblings? And what on earth is a Dot Com Mogul???

Lets start with a dot com mogul.  From my understanding, John Chow came up with the term himself.  He posted the requirements in his post Requirements To Be A Dot Com Mogul.

Now, Miscellaneous ramblings??  So, what does he mean by miscellaneous ramblings?  Well, pretty much he will post about his opinions on random things, like posting a video on One-Night Stand Etiquette. His blog, however, is mostly geared towards tech stuff, as this is where is expertise lies.  That being said, however, he seems to be knowledgeable in many things, from fine dining, and cars, to finances.

He is smart about his site and is successful in monetizing it.  But also, he shares his success stories, so that others can learn from what he does.  An example of this is his review for linkback exchange. By doing this, he is getting reviews, boosting his Technorati Rank, and helping the reviewer’s blog by giving a link back.  On a site like his that gets a lot of visitors.  If my memory serves me correct, he gets over 200,000 visits a month (I couldn’t find the fact on his webpage, and I can’t remember where I saw it, but I’m sure he will correct me if I’m wrong).

John also does his part in raising money for the poor.  He recently helped raise money for the Union Gospel Mission for Easter Dinners, raising over $1000.

John Chow’s site is a good read for Technology News, and all sorts of “Miscellaneous Ramblings”

My Name Is My Domain

The My Name Is My Domain was started by Gary Lee and followed suit quickly by John Chow, and it has spread from there. I’m not sure how big it is right now, or where the biggest one is, but if you meet the requirements, and want on the list, let me know, and I’ll throw you on there, provided that you put me on your list.

WordPress Stats Plugins

I am currently running two plugins for keeping track of stats. I was originally running Stat Traq which I thought was great. Although it was my first stat plugin, and I was thrilled to see how many people were actually visiting my site. Stat Traq tracks the public activity on your WordPress blog and reports on:

* Hits
* Number of Unique PHP sessions
* Page Views
* IP Addresses (includes link to ARIN Who Is?)
* Browser
* Referrer
* Search Terms from major search engines
* Bar graphs generated for some of the reports

More recently I have installed Firestats, after seeing the plugin in action on Saman Sadeghi’s site. What initially made me want this plugin was its ability to pair Country with IP Address. It’s features are:

* Basic hit statistics (hits ever, in last 24 days etc)
* Recent popular pages
* Recent referers
* Browser and OS trees, grouped by what matters
* IP to country – know where your visitors are surfing from
* A list of recent hits
* Excluding unwanted hits from the display
- By IP address
- By user-agent (to be used to filter bots)

* Ajax UI, no need to reload the whole page – just press the ‘refresh statistics’ button to get the latest data.
* Designed to work on all browsers.

There are many overlaps in these two plugins, but there are also benefits to both of them. I like the stats that Firestats brings, like the countries and browser, especially the ability to display this in the comments by the user. And I like to see the breakdown of daily stats that Stat Traq keeps track of.

So, currently I am running both, but eventually will cut one of them. I’d love to hear your opinions on these, or any others that you use to analyze your stats on your site.

Dot Com Mogul review

So, what is a dot com mogul?? My understanding is that John Chow came up with the name, and the requirements in his post Requirements To Be A Dot Com Mogul. They are:

  • Your income is made from the Internet
  • The minimum Internet income level is $10,000 per month (you can not add income from other sources to hit this $10K level)
  • You have no jobs outside of the Internet
  • You have a personal blog with your name as the domain name
  • Your blog must be updated at least once per week
  • A Google search of your name must be at the #1 spot
  • You must be willing to help dot com mogul wannabes

So…how many do I qualify for right now?  Well…only the last one, and even then, I have a lot of learning and establishing myself to do before I can really help people.

I have set a goal to gain this coveted Dot Com Mogul status in one year. It is a lofty goal, but you will never make it if you don’t challenge yourself and put deadlines on your goals.  So, feel free to comment on my goal for myself, share your own goals, and join me in the quest for Dot Com Mogul status.

Dot Com Mogul Status

Well, after reading Stephen Fung’s dot com Mogul checklist for February I have decided that I’m going to set my goal for the year.  Since I started the site a few days ago, I’m going say that my goal for the year is to become a dot com mogul by March 1st, 2008.

I’m not sure how reasonable this goal is, but I’m going to believe in myself and go to it.  I’ll posts updates monthly.

Currently no stats to really share except my Technorati Rank, which I posted recently.

Speed Linking – March 9

Time for me to share some posts that I read recently that I enjoyed or felt I should share.

Saman is working hard at comment whoring, and its working!! His site has a lot of interesting reads and his comments on the many sites he comments on are always an interesting read. Check out how his Technorati Rank has Skyrocketed.

John Chow continues his obsession with the Pagani Zonda, and is now drooling over the Pagani Zonda R. I don’t blame him, it is definitely one sexy car.

Monetizing blogs is a popular hobby these days, and we have seen that if done well, with enough traffic, it can create quite an income. Take John Chow’s site, and his earnings for February. Here is a great post on Monetizing WordPress Plugins. Which I’ll probably try at some point, after my traffic picks up a bit.

If you are like me, you have a lot of music, all on your ipod, which is almost always on you. The problem is, the music on the ipod is not organized very well. I’m planning on trying to organize my itunes library this weekend, and I’m going to try and follow the steps outlined on TheTechZone.

Well, only four links this time.  I’m sure there will be more next time.
