Getting Back into the Blogging World

After a long stint of not blogging, letting my blog just sit there, and not paying attention to the blogging world, I am now trying to get back into it.  I have been visiting old blogging friends blogs, and trying to catch up on all their posts, which is, on some, next to impossible.

The question for me right now, is what is my blog about??  Well, I’m afraid I can’t answer that, as I need to figure out what my life is about too.  I am currently finishing up a degree in Piano Performance, and thinking about going into a career as an electrician.  I’ve thought about a career in computers and technology, but I’m not sure if that is really for me.  So, all this being said, my blog doesn’t really have a set subject, because my life is so varied at this time.  I hope that as I blog about things on my mind and my interests, my true passions will eventually come out and the blog will have a more consistent subject.

Some interesting stuff I’ve read today, which can help me out:

  •  Derek shares about how often you should post on your blog.  A very good post that I’m going to try and refer to as I try and get back into the blogging world.
  • Sean posts about some good podcasts, I’ll be checking these out, as I am currently in the market for a dSLR, and have gotten quite into Photography recently.

Updating Site

I am currently giving my site a makeover, so please feel free to browse the site, and give feedback on anything I do.  The theme that I am currently using may or may not be the final theme, but works as a temporary theme.  I plan on doing a lot of work on the site over the weekend as I am going to be at home quite a bit.  I’m getting my Wisdom Teeth out in a few hours, and hope that I will feel well enough afterwards to continue working on the site. Stay tuned!!

Selling CD's

I enjoy my coffee, I tend to go to the coffee shop everyday. I know most of the regulars at the store, and always enjoy having little chats with random people in the cafe. Yesterday, I had an interesting one. This guy starts the conversation by asking my what kind of music I like?? An interesting question for someone you have never met…but none-the-less it gets him talking to me, which is what he wanted. He was a musician himself, and selling CD’s of himself. He played the guitar and sang, and all the music and poetry/lyrics were his own original stuff. Pretty cool, eh?

His artist name was “Randy TJ.” This is where it got interesting, he was only selling his CD’s in person, and signing everyone. So that every CD of his that was out, would have an original autograph on it. His plan? To get into the Guiness Book of World Records by doing this. I’m not entirely sure how this would work, but good on him for trying.

However, perhaps my mind works a bit different, but I’m thinking that he could get a lot more publicity by putting less effort into marketing his CD’s online and in music stores than going around coffee shops in person. And as he himself pointed out, he’s an artist trying to make a living. Selling CD’s the standard way will bring in more money than in person, that is, if his music is as good as he was claiming.

I regret that I couldn’t buy a CD, because I often don’t carry cash on me, and he didn’t have a credit card machine on him. So I couldn’t get a CD, but I’ll remember his name, however, and look forward to hearing about him in the future.

WordPress update…

After not updating my blog for quite a while, I was naturally not running the latest version of WordPress.  So
I decided to upgrade, and install the latest version.  Of course, not quite thinking straight, I installed it, and didn’t bother to check if it changed anything.  Left to go away for the weekend, and about 5 days after installing it, find out that my theme and layout don’t get displayed properly in the new version.

So I quickly threw up another theme, and will adjust it at a later time (perhaps this weekend).  Although I was just quickly looking for a theme that would display my page in a reasonable way, I have ended up with a theme I may want to keep and just personalize a bit.  It’s fairly clean and simple, which is nice.

Typing’s not easy

I have found that although typing has become easier, or I have become more used to my new typing style.  It’s still hard. And the thought of sitting down and shooting off a post is one I tend to delay/put off, because I don’t want to type it out.

I am determined to push through, but…I can’t wait till the casts come off!!!

TTZ Media Affiliates

I’m getting back into the blogging world, and noticed that we can now become an affiliate with TTZ Media. I remember John Chow talking about wanting to do this months ago, and like the idea that it has finally become a reality.

As soon as I have increased my posting to a regular basis I will be applying and will be sure to post updates.

Planning

Over the summer I didn’t do anything with my blog. When school started I planned on blogging again.

Why didn’t this happen?? Well i managed to break both my wrists, making typing very hard. I am getting close to getting one hand free, but the other is going to be in a cast a bit longer.

Over the next few weeks I should be able to type easier, and start updating my blog. I am also going to try and give my blog a makeover, and find my own niche for my blog.

Stay tuned
