Five days after setting up and running Akismet Spam, I am pretty much spam free. I did get one spam comment, but that’s ok, I can deal with that. According to the Akismet plugin, it has stopped 368 spam comments since I activated it.
Best of all, it does all this in the background, without making my readers decipher a Captcha image every time they want to comment.
I mentioned a few days ago, that I had an increased spam. I never used to have this problem, and after upgrading my site, I was getting 20-30 spam comments a day. Damien suggested reCAPTCHA, which is a program that can tell whether its user is a human or a computer by using captcha images. I installed it, and it worked. However, I didn’t really like it. It didn’t integrate into my site very well, was below all the comment forms, and was therefore easy to miss. And, when you did miss it, or get the words wrong, it deleted your comment that you had just written.

Recently I started being active in the blogging world again, and one thing has jumped out at me. Spam!! Since I have updated my blog, I have been getting tons of Spam comments on my posts… new and old posts… I have averaged just over 15 spam comments a day for the last week. Ranging from cheap Viagra, and other prescription drugs, to replica watches. Several months ago, when I used to be even more active in the blogging world, I never got anywhere near as much spam as this. I guess the times have changed.
I am currently giving my site a makeover, so please feel free to browse the site, and give feedback on anything I do. The theme that I am currently using may or may not be the final theme, but works as a temporary theme. I plan on doing a lot of work on the site over the weekend as I am going to be at home quite a bit. I’m getting my Wisdom Teeth out in a few hours, and hope that I will feel well enough afterwards to continue working on the site. Stay tuned!!
After not updating my blog for quite a while, I was naturally not running the latest version of WordPress. So
I decided to upgrade, and install the latest version. Of course, not quite thinking straight, I installed it, and didn’t bother to check if it changed anything. Left to go away for the weekend, and about 5 days after installing it, find out that my theme and layout don’t get displayed properly in the new version.
So I quickly threw up another theme, and will adjust it at a later time (perhaps this weekend). Although I was just quickly looking for a theme that would display my page in a reasonable way, I have ended up with a theme I may want to keep and just personalize a bit. It’s fairly clean and simple, which is nice.
I’m getting back into the blogging world, and noticed that we can now become an affiliate with TTZ Media. I remember John Chow talking about wanting to do this months ago, and like the idea that it has finally become a reality.
As soon as I have increased my posting to a regular basis I will be applying and will be sure to post updates.
Over the summer I didn’t do anything with my blog. When school started I planned on blogging again.
Why didn’t this happen?? Well i managed to break both my wrists, making typing very hard. I am getting close to getting one hand free, but the other is going to be in a cast a bit longer.
Over the next few weeks I should be able to type easier, and start updating my blog. I am also going to try and give my blog a makeover, and find my own niche for my blog.

Well, today is the first day of school. Summer is over, and I must say, it was a great summer!! It went by really quickly, probably due to the fact that I was kept so busy. But it was a good summer, so no complaints.
With the end of summer, and the start of school, I hope to start up my blog again. I’m going to try and keep regular posts, which didn’t happen at all over the summer. I’m not sure which direction the blog will go, but I will keep posting and see which way it heads.
Well, I think I’ve left FlippingRich at the top of my page for long enough. Time to move on to other stuff. Shortly after I made the entry about the T-Shirt I got from FlippingRich, exams started. About one day after my last exam, I started a new job for the summer. I am doing landscaping, in which I work about 50-60 hours a week, and it leaves me feeling pretty tired. This has taken many hours away from my computer time, and on top of that, summer weather has come too, so camping on weekends, skim boarding, hitting the beach all have to be fit in too. As the time went on, I realized that I hadn’t done anything online for quite a while (well over 400 emails to sort through).
So…for the summer I’ll try and post as much as I can, but come September when I am back in school, I’ll get back to my regular posting.
Ok, the question: How long does it take me to take a picture of myself in a certain shirt??? The answer: 11 Days, apparently. I posted recently how I got to meet John Chow, and the reason for this meeting was because I won a Flipping Rich Shirt.
Derrik from FlippingRich.com, emailed me and told me that he wanted a picture so that he could put it in the world wide t-shirt sightings. I had planned on taking a picture before hand, but this was further incentive! And then school took over. Finals came, papers came, and 11 days later, I finally got the picture taken. And…next week is my worst week!! So, lack of blog postings expected next week, sorry.
But as of May, I’ll be blogging full speed ahead!! And hoping to increase in every possible ranking 
And now!! The long awaited picture!!! The proof that I did in fact get a Flipping Rich shirt!!
Now I just need to become flipping rich….
