Passive Income

What is Passive Income?

It is a source of income that is set up in a way where it continues to come in, with little or no work required.  Something that is set up and then can be left to earn you money.

Some examples of this:

  • Earnings from a business that does not require direct involvement from the owner or merchant;
  • Rent from property;
  • Earnings from internet advertisements on websites;
  • Residual income, repeated regular income earned by a sales person, generated from the payment of a product or service, that must be renewed on a regular basis in order to continue receiving its benefits;

Recently I looked into an interesting Passive Income source. Owning Water Vending Machines.  Its a water filtration system that filters on the spot.  People can fill their water bottles of any size for 50 cents a gallon.

Naturally, with different locations being more productive than others, you may luck out and make more, or also the other way, not as much, however, the average income from one of these machines in $458.

Now, here’s the thing, the machines cost US $12,500.  Minimum order of 10.  They will, for a fee, do all the maintenance on them for you,  so it could be a completely hands off business.  Putting out $125,000 up front is a lot of money, but it has the potential to bring in a bit of cash.  Lets say that your 10 machines average $400 a month, that’s $4,000 a month income.  $48,000 a year.  That’s not bad in my mind!

Now if only I had the initial money to put down.

2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics

We are now 17 sleeps away from the world coming to Vancouver for the 2010 Olympic games!

It has been 7 years since Vancouver/Whistler was awarded the Olympics.  The Olympics are now just around the corner, and we are trying to finish the city off in order to get ready to be displayed on the world stage.

Buzz Bishop was excited as he took in the Olympic Flames relay as it ran through Calgary.

Soon it will be here!

Here is a great local site that has information on all the events and on goings of the happenings in the city, as well as updates and stories on the athletes.

BMW 760li

While watching an earlier edition of Top Gear, I was intrigued by this BMW!

Well, by both cars, but I would choose the BMW if I was in the market for a car like this! Check it out! V12 twin turbo engine in a 7 series!

Buzz Bishop

I listen to the radio lots. I used to listen to it even more. I find it hard to listen now that I work in an atmosphere that isn’t catered towards radio playing, but still, in the car I tend to have the radio on.

Years ago, I used to work in Landscaping, working on my own, outside, with nothing but my ipod and the radio to keep me company. I ended up listening to the radio all day, every day.

The name Buzz Bishop came up in a blog post on the famous dot com pho.

Buzz Bishop came out to the first dot com pho of 2010. John Chow writes about it here.

I was intrigued to find that Buzz Bishop was a blogger too. However, what I enjoyed the most and want to shout out to is his work in raising money for diabetes. I have type 1 diabetes and have been wanting to run a marathon with team diabetes for a while now. I have done a half marathon, but have since stopped training as much. I think I will aim to start running again with the goal of eventually running with team diabetes!

Thanks Buzz Bishop!

Photography

For some time I have been into photography, I have a camera, I had one lense. I had taken a course and really enjoyed it, but never had really felt like I was using my camera enough.

In December, my wife bought me a new lense for my birthday. I 35mm 1.8 lense. Perfect for low lighting photography. One of my favorite things about photography is night time shooting and taking pictures without flashes!

My plan is to head out around the city on some evenings and capture some of the city sights.  I really think that the next few months could create some great images with all the lights and displays for the Olympics in town.

My Cafe

As you may know, my day job is running a couple of Cafe’s.

I am the manager of The Well Cafe.  The Cafe is a peaceful little cafe that offers a place to take a break from daily life and enjoy a good cup of coffee.  We brew Caffe Umbria coffee, a wide bodied Italian Coffee, which, surprise surprise, is roasted in none other than Seattle.

If you would like to come by and check out the cafe, let me know, your coffee will be on me ;)

The Cafe is located at 3271 Dunbar St. in Vancouver, BC.

Planting Bamboo

One day a man planted a bamboo seedling. He cared deeply for it, so each day he watered it and tended to it, always making sure it had the proper sunlight to grow. After a year’s time, the man saw that the plant had not grown at all, but he continued to water it, tend to it, and make sure it was nourished by proper sunlight. Again, after the second year the plant had not grown. He watered and tended it through the third year and the fourth. Suddenly, as if by magic, in the fifth it began growing. In fact, it grew two and a half feet a day until in six weeks it was ninety feet tall.

The things you start in your life – relationships, businesses, new endeavors, new projects, are all bamboo plants. This illustration is very closely mirrored in Network Marketing, except that if you’re in the right one, you can start making money fast, and when you hit critical mass you can’t believe the growth. Those who make twenty or a hundred thousand dollars a month are not smarter than anyone else – they just kept on when all the others left.

Calvin Coolidge said, “Press on: nothing in the world can take the place of perseverance. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; un-rewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.”

Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. Winners NEVER quit. With a winner, it’s not about “IF” – it’s about “WHEN”. What will YOUR life look like in five years?
